Major "Leak" Found at Library!
No, we do not have spies and secret documents @ your library (R), but the melting snow from our last storm caused another kind of leak. The roof started to leak due to ice dam buildups and the north wall in the reading room did sustain damage. This is just one more of the unfixable structural problems with our old library. This happens every winter and it's only a matter of time until we have severe damage to the library collection. We really do need a new library, and SOON! A huge thanks to Greg Jennison (a truly wonderful friend of the library) and his crew, and the Owens Valley Conservation Camp for coming to the rescue. Greg and his crew shoveled the snow off the leaking area and removed enough ice to stop the leak. Then the Owens Valley Conservation Camp came and worked for three days straight, sometimes in less than ideal conditions, and shoveled the entire library roof. Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who came to our rescue. Not only did you save the library from further damage but you saved us a great deal of money. We later found out that another "public" building in town paid $3,000 to have just one half of their roof shoveled!
Lots of new book arrivals in the last few weeks. Come by and find an interesting book to curl up with by the fire.
