Have You iBistro'd Yet?
The Mono County Library's card catalog, iBistro, is 10 months old! It has been around long enough now that we want to make sure you've had a chance to use it, either at the library, in the comfort of your home, or some other hot spot. As you may, or may not recall, our card catalog (a.k.a. iBistro) is now on the World Wide Web. Now, we get to tell you all about the fun features available to you. You access the link at www.monocolibraries.org, and then click on Card Catalog. From here click on My Account - here you'll see four options: Renew Your Materials (that's right, you can renew your books from Hawaii if you like!); Change Your Address; View Your Account (see when your materials are due); and User PIN Change. This last one you'll want to do on your first visit and you'll need your library card. If you've lost your card or don't have one, contact your library. This is important: your User ID is your library card number and your default password is CHANGEME (case sensitive), that is, until you change it. With iBistro, you can search by library location, subject, author, etc. When you find a book you want just click Place a Hold, and select the library you want to pick-it-up from. It is such a user friendly site we're sure you'll be delighted. And remember, if you run into a snag call your librarian at 934-4777. Also, the numbers are on the site, in the upper right hand corner under Hours. Happy searching!
TRIVIA QUESTION OF THE WEEK: What was the first American novel to sell one million copies?
ANSWER TO LAST WEEK'S QUESTION: The following "Curse Against Book Stealers" comes from the Monastery of San Pedro, Barcelona. "For him that stealeth a Book from this Library, let it change into a serpent in his hand and rend him. Let him be struck with Palsy, and all his Members blasted. Let him languish in Pain crying aloud for Mercy and let there be no surcease to his Agony till he sink in Dissolution. Let Bookworms gnaw his Entrails in token of the Worm that dieth not, and when at last he goeth to his final Punishment, let the flames of Hell consume him for ever and aye." Wow, that's pretty stiff punishment. Sure glad we only charge "money" here in the USA. |
