Library materials are available from other libraries in California. We can order almost any book for you using the Mountain Valley Library System, OCLC Firstsearch, the Internet, or other on-line systems to access library holdings throughout the state. To order a book, fill out a request form (available at your local library) giving all the information you know about the book. Books in Print may also be used to identify the correct author, title, publisher and series. If you have a deadline, please let us know. Items borrowed from libraries not affiliated with the Mountain Valley Library System may have a charge; charges will be assessed at the time the item arrives at the library.
The Mono County Library System offers several types of library cards. Permanent cards are offered to residents of one year (or more) of Mono County, persons who own property, are employed by Mono County, or who have students enrolled in a Mono County school. We also offer these cards to holders of Mountain Valley area library cards. Temporary cards are offered to new residents of the county upon completion of necessary paperwork. Visitors may obtain a visitor’s card when they provide us with their home library card.
All branches in the Mono County Library System provide access to the Internet and Word Processing. Research may be done at no charge. In all branches, copies made from computer-printers are $.10/page, $.05/page for Friends of the Library members. No library card is needed to exchange paperback books from the "Bring one, Take one" exchanges located in each library. Patrons are encouraged to exchange their paperback books with other patrons so all will be able to read and use a greater variety of library materials.
The Bookmobile will make special stops for disabled and shut-in patrons. Please contact the Bookmobile about special stops.
