Job, Career and Skill-Building Resources
For Mono County Library Cardholders, the California State Library has secured access to an array of online skills and career development resources:

Coursera (to access, choose Mono County from the drop down menu on the Career Pathways site linked) is a global online learning platform that offers anyone, anywhere access to online courses and degrees from world-class universities and companies. Through Coursera's partnership with the State Library, any Mono County library cardholder will have access to world-class, job-relevant content and credentials from 200+ business, government, and university partners, including Yale, Johns Hopkins and Google for up to 6 months after joining a learning program on the site.
GetSetUp has a catalog of over 500 classes exclusively for older adults! During the week, GetSetUp offers more than 40 live classes every day as well as 25 on weekends. GetSetUp offers classes for older adults just learning technology, as well as classes in the following categories:
- Physical Health (exercise, healthy cooking)
- Mental Health (stress, meditation, dementia)
- Social Health (book club, gardening, pets)
- Vocational Health (resume writing, interviewing)
LearningExpress Library is an easy-to-use e-learning platform featuring online tutorials, practice tests and e-books to help you achieve your educational and professional goals. In addition to helping you improve your skills in reading, writing, math and basic science, LearningExpress Library offers tools and resources to help you search for jobs, build workplace skills and prepare for career certification exams. You'll also find college and grad school admissions test prep, GED® test prep and much more. Currently, LearningExpress is available until September 30, 2022.
Adult Core Skills
Build your math, reading, writing, grammar and public speaking skills. You’ll also find resources in English and Spanish to help you prepare for the U.S. citizenship exam.
Basic Computer Skills
Learn the basics of using a computer, navigating the internet, and using popular Microsoft Office software programs such as Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word.
Explore potential careers (including military service), build workplace skills, and prepare for the ACT® WorkKeys® Assessments, the ASVAB test, the TOEIC® test and career licensure exams.

This center provides learning tools as well as career and citizenship resources to help busy adults improve their basic skills, earn a GED® or become a U.S. citizen.
LinkedIn Learning is a unique online tutorial center built specifically for Public Library patrons and provides access to over 17,000+ professionally produced video tutorials across Business, Creative, and Technology topics. Additionally, LinkedIn Learning is available in 7 different languages, and can be accessed via desktop computers and mobile devices through our apps (offline viewing included).
NorthStar Digital Learning is a very basic 'how to' site for people learning to use computers or online devices, complete with assessments to assess your skill level. You'll see a spot prompting you for a 4-digit PIN, enter V898.
SkillShare, online skills-building & career-path development resource across a wide variety of topics from the California State Library. Mono County has up to 20 three-month seats for this resource for the year, if you are unable to access please let us know.
Brainfuse JobNow/VetNow is a free online service you can access with your Mono County Library Card that features live online assistance, resume lab help, and wide range of academic tools to help job seekers and veterans reach their job & career goals.
